A year ago today I saw Newsies- my first Broadway show- and my life was basically changed. It made me fall in love with theatre, which in turn helped me discover so much more about myself and the world around me. This show is so special to me for so many reasons, and I’ll try my best to never forget that night I first sat in a Broadway theatre. From the opening number to the curtain call to the stage door- it was one of the best experiences of my life. And it’s all I’ve thought about since. I want to do that for people. I want to create something on that stage that makes people feel, that makes them understand. Newsies has been one of the biggest inspirations for me, and I’ll always love it for that. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go listen to the entire album and cry because IT’S BEEN ONE WHOLE FREAKIN YEAR SINCE I’VE BEEN TO NYC

I got pretty happy when a letter from New York showed up in my mailbox.
I got really happy when I saw these inside.
I got even happier when King of New York started playing in my room as I was opening the envelope.
Then I danced and squealed. Because of happiness.
I went all around town looking for Newsies on DVD or Blu-Ray.
The workers everywhere I went had no idea what I was talking about, and couldn’t find it in their stores.
People. Seriously!

So I was waiting in the car for my mom to come, and Seize the Day came on. I had listened to about half of the song when she came and got in.
She looked at me and said, “You do realize you’re gonna have to start the song over for me, right?”
